Here in Louisiana, usually we celebrate our Cajun heritage. But on St. Patrick's Day, it was all about the Irish.

More than a thousand people headed to Festival Plaza for "Patty in the Plaza." Nearly everyone was decked out in fashionable green. There were four bands performing including The Dubonauts, Identity Crisis, Moulin Dudes, and the Chee-Wees.

People were drinking so much green beer that organizers say they ran out. There were also plenty of activities for the kids, including face painting and bounce houses.

"We didn't have a big St. Patty's Day Party, we've got a great parade in the market but we didn't have a festival so we wanted to start one and hopefully its one of many," said Lisa Janes, of Townsquare Media.
