Some students started their St. Patrick's Day weekend with a little less hair.

Saturday afternoon, the first ever St. Baldrick's was held at LSU Health in Shreveport.

Almost 20 people shaved their heads to help raise money for childhood cancer research.

Event co-chair, Renee Do, says it was a huge success, and they can't wait to do it again next year.

"I think it says a lot. It's been incredible to see how many people, who haven't even met any kids with cancer, want to give to this event."

Almost $8,000 has been raised.
