Shreveport and Bossier residents laced up their shoes, and walked for a cause.

Saturday morning, the 3rd annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Muscle Walk was held.

More than 85 teams came to support friends, family, and anyone suffering from the disease.

After a few people shared their reasons for being there, everyone walking around the Louisiana Boardwalk.

MDA Executive Director, Tiffany Jones, says the support was overwhelming.

"They're standing behind their friends, their neighbors. It can happen to anyone because it knows no boundaries. So it just says they really get behind a cause no matter how big or small."

Organizers say they exceeded their goal of $30,000.

An exact total will be known next week.
