Adopting a Furry Friend

On Friday, the Animal Care and Adoption Center was out at Fun Country Park with a few available four-legged friends.
In addition to trying to find those dogs a good home, they wanted to let pet owners know about the importance of spaying and neutering pets.
Organization Director, Connie Slater, says it's a huge problem in Texarkana that results in shelter overcrowding.
Currently the one in Texarkana has a total of about 300 dogs and cats waiting to be adopted.
"They don't have anybody to speak for them so we're out there to be the voice for them and let them know that they are living creatures, and that they need homes," said Slater. "They have feelings just like people do."
If you missed Friday's event, another will be held next Friday from 10am-1pm.
