Man steals car with child inside

The search iis on for a man who authorities say allegedly stole a woman's vehicle this morning from the parking lot of a west Shreveport child care center.
It began just before 11 this morning when Shreveport Police officers responded to a call that a black Mercedez Benz with a small child inside had been stolen from the 6700 block of Melara Avenue.
Upon officers arrival at the scene, they earned that during the process of taking one of her children inside the daycare, while leaving the seond child waiting in the back seat of the car.
While the mother was inside the daycare, the suspect jumped into the mother's care and sped off. While fleeing the parking lot, the suspect struck a utility pole, causing minor damage to the vehicle.
Officers at the scene received an additional call alerting them that a black vehicle matching that of the one stolen moments earlier was observed stopped on the side of the road in the 3000 block of Amherst Street.
Callers stated they observed a small child standing outside of the vehicle crying. Authorities quickly responded to the location, where they located the vehicle and the child, who was found un;harmed.
Witnesses observed the suspect fleeing from the stolen car and running between houses. It is believed the suspect may have been bitten by a dog as he fled through several backyards.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, from 6' to 6'2" tall of slender build, wearing tan pants and a red and black baseball cap.
