Gents roll past Letourneau

SHREVEPORT, La - The Centenary baseball remained hot following weekend action pounding out 16 runs in a 10-run decision over LeTourneau on Tuesday evening at Shehee Stadium. In the 16-6 victory the Maroon and White move to 13-4 on the season while LETU falls to 10-5.

Six Gents recorded multiple hits in the outing with four recording multiple RBI. Ryan Gasporra, Tyler Clakley, Jemari James, Craig Littleman, Adam VanDenLangenberg and Zachary Stephenson all finished the night with two hits. Gasporra, Clakley, Littleman and Christian Sebastien each drove in two runs.

Paul Arcement (1-0) tossed 5.0 innings in the win allowing two runs on five hits. Arcement toed the rubber for a majority of the contest to lead the way for five Centenary hurlers that saw action.

The Gents plated eight runs in their first at-bat. The Maroon and White capitalized on five walks and two hit batters to score its first five runs of the inning. Gasporra and Marc Martinez then followed with RBI hits to plate the final three runs of the frame - the only two hits in the inning.

The Gents added back-to-back two-run innings in their next two trips to the dish. The combined four runs were highlighted by a solo homerun by Clakley in the third frame.

Centenary added its final four runs in the fourth inning en route to the win.

LETU plated its first two runs of the contest in the fifth and tacked on four more in the eighth inning as Bryce Griffin plated half the runs in the eighth frame with a two-RBI, double down the left field line.

Jack Van Saders (1-1) took the loss on the bump pitching 0.1 inning with five runs allowed combined with three walks.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Mar. 16 at Austin College.
