Early morning crash shuts down part of I-49

You need to avoid Interstate-49 if you drive through DeSoto Parish.

Shortly after 4 a.m. Tuesday morning an 18-wheeler left the highway and crashed in a ditch at mile marker 162 near Coushatta.

Authorities say the driver of the McDonald's tractor trailer was not injured.

The northbound lanes from LA 177 to US 84 will remain closed at least until noon so the perishable items can be removed from the 18-wheeler.

DOTD officials advise that you detour using LA 177 to LA 1 to US 84 to I-49.
