28-year-old, David James Cherry, was found inside his home Friday morning with a sinigle gun shot to the head.
Detective Sonya Johnson says the landlord of the property was at the house checking things out, when he saw David sitting on the couch unresponsive. That's when police were called to the scene.
Friends and family came together Friday to mourn the loss of a loved one.
"We're being strong," said cousin Laquita Hardeman. "No reason to sit around crying and moping because he was a great dude."
And while they're sad to see David Cherry go, They all want answers.
"I feel like no one should lose their life, and the way he lost his life, no it's not cool."
"Basically we want to know what happened, how it happened, and why," said good friend Adrienne Jackson.
Jackson says she still can't believe it.
"It was crazy because I saw him the day before, and right now, I think I'll see him tomorrow and the day after that."
Especially because she says David was so well liked.
"It had to be more like hate towards him. For them to do all the stuff they did to him, what was the point of it? How did it benefit y'all?"
And even though so many questions are left unanswered, those who knew David, say he will be missed.
"It's really sad to see something happen to a person like him."
