Fair Park girls to pick out free prom dress next week

Fair Park High School girls won't have to worry about buying a dress to prom this year thanks to the Cinderella Project.

Last January, organizers of the project, held dress drives, asking anyone with formal dresses to donate them at area retailers.  Now, they have 400 prom gowns to give away to juniors and seniors.  Students will be able to pick out their dresses next week.

The school was chosen because they have the most students on free or reduced price lunch.

"For a lot of girls they probably couldn't afford to go to prom so providing these free prom dresses we get to give them that experience.  Prom is very special.  It's a high point in everybody's high school experience," said Ashley Brusada, Cinderella Project.

This is the first year for the Cinderella Project in Shreveport.  They hope to get more dresses in the future so they can help every school in the area.
