$433,000 are cut from Louisiana Public Health because of the Sequester, and natural disaster relief falls under that umbrella.

When the waters rise and hurricane winds blow, 500 to 10,000 evacuees make their way to Shreveport-Bossier to emergency shelters.

With Federal funding missing and hurricane season on the way, it's even raising eyebrows for volunteer and donation agencies like the Red Cross and local law makers.

"The more people we have in shelters the more it'll cost. Just from a logistical stand-point if the government money is cut back for their part of disaster relief, the Red Cross donated part will need to rise," Executive Director Michelle Davidson said.

"This is an evacuation point and we pride ourselves on being able to help those people who come up here. And to not be able to do that as well because of funding cuts is a problem. A big problem," Rep. Patrick Williams said.
