Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez dies

Chavez passed away Tuesday afternoon after a long battle with cancer.

The "Chavistas" praised Chavez for reducing extreme poverty and expanding access to health care and education.

Meanwhile, critics blamed Chavez for high inflation, food shortages, escalating crime and mismanagement of the country's oil industry.

Chavez was 58 years old.
