This week a new state-of-the-art crime lab in Shreveport takes another step towards becoming a reality.

On Thursday, the North Louisiana Forensic Science Center will begin seeking bids from companies capable of building their new 86,000 square-foot facility.

The facility will be built near the corner of Linwood and Tulane Avenue in Shreveport.

Jimmy Barnhill, the Crime Lab's Systems Director, says bids will be sought for three weeks.

In mid-April, the Forensic Science Center will choose the lowest bidder for the contract.

The facility is expected to eventually bring 30 high-paying jobs to our area.
