It's Week Nine!
We're in the home stretch of the NBC 6 Fit Club Challenge.
We head to Christus Louisiana Athletic Club for a new, full-body workout called R.I.P.P.E.D.
"R.I.P.P.E.D. is a plateau-proof fitness formula. It incorporates cardio and resistance training," said Farrah Comeau, trainer at Christus Louisiana Athletic Club.
R.I.P.P.E.D. is an acronym that stands for resistance, interval, power, plyometrics, endurance and diet. Each session lasts for 12 weeks.
"So when you finally get all the moves down and the choreography, they change it. It's a whole new routine so your muscles aren't getting accustomed to the same movements," added Comeau.
Trainers say keeping your workouts fresh will help you stick with it. When you set up an exercise and nutrition plan you should ask yourself several questions.
"How long can you do this? Can you do it for the rest of your life? Is it going to be something that's working for you as an individual," asked Janine Bratton, trainer at Christus Louisiana Athletic Club.
She says setting goals and training for events like 5 K's and Zumbathons can also motivate. Bratton adds that you should also be flexible.
"You should be able to have little cheat days here or there and relax about it. If you miss a workout no big deal," encouraged Bratton.
