Shreveport Airport Authority officials are learning more about impact possible sequester cuts could have on their operations.

The downtown airport's traffic control tower is in danger of being closed down by the federal aviation administration if the cuts go through.  It's one of 200 general aviation airports across the country on the chopping block.

Mark Crawford with the authority worries about major revenue losses if the tower is closed down.

"People do rent and lease space from us here at the airport for hangers.  They build their own hangers so they may choose to go to a different airport.  There's also the F.B.O - the Fixed Base Operations - the company that fuels the planes.  There's a pilot lounge, that sort of thing," said Crawford.

The Shreveport Downtown Airport is actually the busiest airport in the region with more takes and landings.  It also has more aircraft housed there than any other airport in the state.
