BOSSIER CITY, LA -- The Mudbugs expected a tough fight against the Corpus Christi Rayz and they got all they could handle, defeating Corpus 3-2 in a shootout. Corpus Christi came out guns blazing in the first period, peppering goaltender John DeCaro with 15 shots. Jay Hardwick scored on a rebound at 15:42 giving the Rayz a one nothing edge. Bossier-Shreveport wasted no time in the second as Joe Ori was able to strike only 14 seconds in to the second period to tie the game. Dan Wildfongs hard work earned him a goal as Forbes MacPhersons drive towards the net redirected off Wildfongs skate. Bossier-Shreveport kept the one goal lead heading into the second intermission. Corpus Christi showed great resilience in the third period. Adam Powell tied the game after picking up the puck off a turnover and firing it past John DeCaro at 12:22 in the third period. A scoreless overtime gave way to a shootout with the Mudbugs avenging the shootout loss to Corpus Christi from six weeks earlier. Chris Brassard, Daniel Pegoraro and Forbes MacPherson all scored to lift the Bugs to victory. John DeCaro stopped 25 of 27 shots in regulation and turned aside four out of five shooters in the shootout.
