Student arrested in slapping incident at local school

An 11-year-old faces charges in connection with an alleged battery case at a Shreveport elementary school.

The incident happened earlier this week at Westwood Elementary in the 7300 block of Jewella Ave.

The juvenile was taken into custody and charged with Battery of a School Teacher. The student was later released to a concerned adult party.

Meanwhile, a Caddo Parish School In-School Suspension Coordinator was placed on administrative leave without pay for allegedly slapping the student.

Kasunda Daniels, 29, has been issued a summons for simple battery.
