Manufactured homes are quickly becoming one of the country's most popular options.
Built to HUD specifications, and if you chose to buy a land-home combo (like most people) it'll cost you about $120,000.

Chuck Adkins with Belle Cherri Land Company doesn't doesn't understand why he can't place one more inside a specific Shreveport neighborhood.

"Number one you've got to have good credit. Most of these people have a six figure combined income. They're good people and tax payers. This is just a choice to live differently," Adkins said.

The MPC recently gave Adkins the green light to change the zoning ordinance to add one of these homes. Tuesday Shreveport City Council made the move to override that decision because of citizen concern.

"This is not a class issue. This is an investment issue. When taken into account the way homes are valued, there's no way to separate the combination of manufactured homes with brick and mortar homes," Joyce Lawrence President of the West Shreveport Alliance said.
