School employee accused of slapping student

A woman faces criminal charges following an alleged assault of a juvenile Tuesday afternoon.
 
29 year old Kasunda Barfield Daniels of Shreveport was charged with simple battery after she allegedly hit a student at Westwood Elementary School.

Shreveport Police officers responded shortly after 2:00 p.m. to the school after reports that an employee struck a student.  Daniels works as an In School Suspension coordinator at the school.
Detectives gathered information indicating Daniels allegedly slapped an 11 year old student while monitoring students in the schools cafeteria. 

Daniels was issued a summons for simple battery. The child, who suffered no injury in the incident was released to a parent. The investigation is still ongoing.
