Free and low-cost spay neuter available at Robinson's Rescue

Local pet advocates are celebrating "World Spay Day" by encouraging you to spay and neuter your pets.
Advocates say more than a thousand animals are euthanized every month in northwest Louisiana.
Dr. Andrea Master Everson, Medical Director of Robinson's Rescue, said this number could be reduced drastically if people spay and neutered their pets.
Robinson's Rescue offers these services for a low cost. Here are their prices:
Male Cat: $38
Female Cat: $48
Male Dog: $58
Female Dog: $68
It also has the "SSNIP" program which allows for half-price or free spay and neutering. Sponsored by the Caddo Parish Commission, those living in Caddo, Bossier, Minden, Natchitoches, and Sabine Parish receiving government assistance qualify.
"We talk to a lot of people in rural areas that have large populations of dogs being dumped on their properties and cats multiplying in barns and everything so it's a huge problem in northwest Louisiana," said Dr. Master Everson.
On Tuesday, Robinson's Rescue
kicked off a yearlong Block Captain Campaign. It encourages people to sign up
to knock on neighbor's doors and encourage them to spay and neuter their pets.
Whoever gets the most people to do it at Robinson's Rescue will win a prize
next year, on World Spay Day.
The non-profit was founded in 2008 and has spay neutered more than 20,000 animals.
