But school officials in Texarkana say they're not planning on letting go any of their educators.
According to Whitehouse.gov, the lone star state could see a cut of $67 million for primary and secondary school funding.
Also about $51 million will be slashed for those teachers, aides, and staff who help children with disabilties.
Superintendant of the Texarkana Independent School District, Paul Norton, says there's concern on what could happen to their eleven campuses.
But as of now, he says everything is 100% fine.
"Our students are our number 1 concern. Our priority is to ensure they're safe and they're well educated and we don't see that this will have a negative impact on that for this school year. We'll continue to monitor for the future of next year that our kids get what they need to be successful."
If you're a parent who has questions or concerns, Norton says the most important thing you can do is to get involved.
Just contact your local campus, or call the Central Office at 903.794.3651.
