$287M in insurance rebates waiting to be claimed

Louisiana's Commissioner of Insurance, Jim Donelon, stopped by NBC 6 News Today on Tuesday to remind area residents about the hundreds of millions of dollars that are waiting to be claimed by insurance policyholders in Louisiana.
According to Donelon, home and business owners who pay insurance are eligible for a refundable insurance assessment paid into the Louisiana Citizens assessment for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Donelon says more than $287 million, or 61-percent of the available rebate total, remains unclaimed.
