A Shreveport woman was arrested Tuesday morning by Fire Investigators after authorities say she set her house on fire. It happened in the 200 block of E. 71st. street. 26-year-old Marilyn Frieson is charged with simple arson after she allegedly poured gasoline over combustible materials in a bedroom of the home and then ignited a fire. When Shreveport firefighters arrived on scene just after 9 a.m., they found the home pouring smoke from one side. It took fire crews only 10 minutes to bring the fire under control but not before heavy damage was done to the bedroom. Fire investigators said they do not yet have a motive for the fire but said that Frieson exited the home with three children prior to the fire being detected by neighbors. Simple arson carries a 2 to 15 year prison sentence and up to a $15,000 fine for a conviction. Frieson and all three children were not injured in the incident. The children are said to be staying with family. Frieson was booked into Shreveport City Jail.
