LSUS Sweeos SAGU in home Finale

SHREVEPORT, La.(Courtesy LSUS) - The no. 25 LSU Shreveport Lady Pilots eased to a 73-37 win over the visiting Southwestern Assemblies of God Lady Lions on Monday night in the final game of the 2012-2013 regular season in Red River Athletic Conference play at The Dock.
The six-time RRAC Player of
the Week led the offensive attack for the Lady Pilots once again pouring in 20
points and dishing out also the game-high of eight assists. Henry was a perfect
four of four from the free-throw line on a night where the Lady Pilots finished
nine of 11 from the charity stripe.
Henry was one of only two Lady
Pilots to toss in double figures in the lop-sided win as Christy Willis
finished with 18 points behind six of 10 shooting from beyond the arc. The Lady
Pilots made a total of 10 from downtown in 25 attempts for 40-percent form the
three-point line.
LSUS (24-4, 19-3 RRAC)
cruised through the first half to build a 35-17 halftime lead holding SAGU
(9-21, 5-17 RRAC) to 19-percent shooting. The Lady Lions shot 30-percent from
the field in the second half to finish at 25-percent for the game but LSUS
still outscored them in the second half by 18.
Jenna Diakos tossed in nine
points and pulled down nine rebounds while Ariel Harrell and Katie McCoy each
had seven points as Harrell pulled down eight rebounds. The Lady Pilots out
rebounded the Lady Lions of SAGU 41-31.
The win secures a third
place finish for the Lady Pilot in the RRAC regular season standings and they
will play at 10 a.m. in the first round of the RRAC Tournament this Friday
morning at SAGU against the no. 6 seed which has yet to be determined.
Pilots take down
Regular Season Champs on Senior Night
SHREVEPORT, La. - The no.19
LSU Shreveport Pilots seniors definitely have a night to remember as they took
down the regular season champion and no. 7 SAGU Lions 80-74 on Monday night at
The Dock in front of a standing room only crowd. The win secures second place
for the final standings and the no. 2 seed in RRAC Tournament. The Pilots will
hit the hardwood on Friday at Noon at SAGU against the no. 7 seed which has yet
to be determined who that will be. The Pilots were the only team in the
conference to beat SAGU twice this season.
LSUS (22-6, 17-5 RRAC) used
the charity stripe to get by SAGU making 26 of 31 attempts to finish at
83-percent from the line while SAGU made just 12 of 17. Brandon Davis turned in
his 13th double-double of the season with the game high of 23 points
and had the second high total in rebounds with 11. Rodney Milum scored 14 of
his 22 points from the free-throw line on a night when he was a chilly two of
13 from beyond the arc.
Mark Politte was the only
other Pilot to reach double digit points as he finished with 14 while Rydell
Harris led all rebounders with 13 boards as the Pilots edged the Lions on the
glass 39-38. Tevin Hall provided nine points off the Pilots bench to aid the
reserves with a total of 68 points as opposed to 15 from the non-starters from
SAGU.
SAGU (26-4, 19-3 RRAC)had
four in double figures with Dominique Rambo leading the way with 21, Jonathan
Walter had 19, and Caleb Gentry had 10 along with Emmanuel Adoyi. Mike Nwelue
was their only double figure rebounder with 10.
LSUS dug an early hole as
the Lions pulled out to a 10-point lead early on in the first half but the
Pilots rallied their way back as they normally do to a one-point lead at the
half, 34-33.
