Donations have been made to the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission to replace 1,400 lbs. of donated deer meat that was thrown out.

The group Hunters for the Hungry donated the meat, but the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals trashed it, because it wasn't processed through one of its processing companies.

Today, local lawmakers and donors held a news conference announcing a $750 donation from the Louisiana Cattleman Association.

Plus, Foster Farms donated 1,600 lbs. of chicken.

Lawmakers are working on legislation to make sure this doesn't happen again.
