The family of 17-year old Damarcus Jones is grieving. Witnesses said Jones was shot in his upper body while hanging out with friends in his family's home.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Turner Lane in Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood. When Shreveport Police arrived on scene, they said Jones had already been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, where he later died.

Gabrielle Burns, Jones' step sister, said the shooting was an accident. She said Jones and some of their friends were sitting in the living room, looking at a gun, when it discharged.

Shreveport Police say the shooting is under investigation, and they do not have any suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373.
