Calvary Baptist Academy students are serving out a 2-day suspension after three 'Harlem Shake' videos filmed on campus were uploaded to YouTube. An administrator with the school confirmed that more than 20 students were suspended beginning Thursday for their roles in the video. A coach from within the athletic department confirms the number suspended to be 43, although students put the number closer to 80.
In a text message to NBC 6 one of the suspended students says they were simply trying to have fun. "Honestly, I think it's pretty stupid. We were just playing around and having fun. It isn't like we are making a pornographic video. Kids our age wanna laugh and have a good time. And people get mad because we go to a Christian school. The Lord never said you can't have fun. Other highschoolers are doing drugs and having sex. But no, everybody is worried about a bunch (of) kids having a good time. If this was a public school, I bet nobody would be as interested as they are. People judge others way (too) much."
The final day of the students' 2-day suspension will be Friday.
