Shreveport Police Officers and Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies practice active shooter and hostage scenarios to rehearse how they would respond in real life.

"We want to protect the innocent. It's our main goal. We'll take the person into custody. We also need ot protect our officers," Shreveport Police Department's Ben Raymond said.

Every part of the training is meant to feel real--the response, the weapons, and the tactics.

"Every building hase open areas, stairs, and hallways. Those are all key places," Caddo Parish Sgt. Avery Leary said.
