The second annual event was held Thursday on the Texas A&M University, Texarkana campus.
Hundreds came to listen to musicians play their music and students share their stories of hardship and success.
This year's theme was rhythm, blues and soul.
Guest speaker, Dr. Richard Reddick spoke about how music has influenced African American culture.
Student, Christopher Walker, hopes the event will help others learn why Black History Month is important.
"Look beyond what you see, and learn to get to know someone and know about them before you judge them."
Students from Texas High, Arkansas High, Hope High and Liberty were all invited to attend.
