DOTD road project set to get underway next week

Updated: February 21, 2013

You will experience traffic delays if you drive in South Shreveport.

Starting Monday Feb. 25 the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will begin its LA 511 improvement project.

DOTD officials say the work will affect E. 70th St., Line Ave. and Fern Ave.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound and westbound direction while crews work to relocate utilities in preparation for construction.

The project will widen the eastbound and westbound lanes of La. 511 between Fern Ave. and Creswell Rd. and construct a center turn lane.  In addition, the project will resurface the existing roadway.

DOTD officials say the project will take up to one year to complete.
