Shreveport authorities are looking into what caused an accident that killed a taxi cab passenger.

The wreck happened shortly after 3:15 a.m. Sunday on Interstate-20.

Police say Jessica Umphries was driving in the westbound lane when she ran off the road and hit a group of trees.

Christopher Chambers, a passenger in the cab, was taken to LSU Medical Center but later died from his injuries.

Umprhies was also transported to LSU Hospital with serious injuries.

Blood samples were taken from Umphries to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.
