Loyola girls soccer eyes state championship

NEW ORLEANS, LA - It took two overtimes, but Loyola reaches the state championship game with a 2-1 win over Catholic New Iberia.

After losing in the quarterfinal round three consecutive years, the Loyola girls soccer team punched through the quarterfinal curse, advancing through the seminfinals to become the first girls team in Loyola history to play for a state championship.

The Flyers will meet Academy of Sacred Heart on Feb. 22 in the title match.
