The EPA has issued Federal mandates for the City of Shreveport to fix the overlfow and sanitation systems. The city has been in violation since the mid 90s.
"We know it'll be expensive but we really want citizens to be informed and open to discussion," city councilman Jeff Everson said.
At this point they do not know how much it will cost or a time frame. The city is currently in negotiations with the EPA.
"It might be a good time to look closely at your water bill. The increase is on sewage rates not necessarily water. If the administration choses to go for both it'll be something we work on as a council," Everson said.
