Relief is on the way for a local family dealing with a smelly situation.  This week's heavy rains brought with it raw sewage in a north Caddo Parish community.

NBC 6 was told the issue should be fixed by Friday.  According to residents this situation has been going on for almost a year.

Rain fall totals since Sunday average about three to four inches for our area.  The couple's runoff ditch fills with water and the manhole starts to spew water and sewage.  The sewage then ends up inside their home.

Banita Galimore and her husband originally contacted Caddo Parish Sewage District seven and were then directed to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.

George Shaw with the sewage district says within 48 hours someone should be on site to look at the problem and the matter would be fixed by the end of the week.
