A Rodessa man is in jail after he allegedly stole over $30,000 from the church building fund.
Demario Thomas, 31, turned himself in Monday after the Caddo Sheriff's Office obtained a warrant for his arrest on a forgery charge.
Thomas is accused of writing more than 100 checks to himself between April 2010 and Oct. 2012 while he served as treasurer of the First Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.
Thomas signed his own name and forged the name of another board member for the two signatures required on the account.
The majority of the checks were cashed, but many were deposited directly into Thomas's personal account.
Thomas was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center but was later released on bond.
