Man wounded in weekend shooting at local recreation center

Shots rang out in a West Shreveport neighborhood sending one man to the hospital.

Police are looking for the suspects who opened fire shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday morning at the YWCA building in the 700 block of Pierre Avenue.

Investigators say Jerry Thomas, 52, was wounded in the crossfire after two people started shooting at each other during an altercation.

Thomas was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Witnesses told authorities they saw a blue colored, boxed style, Chevrolet Caprice at the intersection of Pierre Avenue at Abbie Street at the time of the shooting.
