The rain went away just in time for the Krewe of Highland's 18th parade. Families lined Gilbert Drive, as the children prepared to jump and yell for beads.

The parade started at 2 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Gregg Street and Gilbert Drive. This year, the krewe added a mile to the route. It ended at the corner of Gladstone Boulevard and Gilbert Drive.

The theme in 2013 is "Rebel, Rebel and it was evident in the various floats, from biker gangs to aliens. The kids took home anything from beads, to fruit snacks, to fancy cups.

The King and Queen were Sherry Walker and Dave McCarty. Walker said there were more than 100 units in the parade and 10 krewes from across the ArkLaTex participating.
