Local African Americans recognized in a special way

A group of African Americans are being honored for their contributions to Shreveport-Bossier.

The Shreveport-Bossier -DeSoto African American Scholarship Awards Committee is holding its 25th annual banquet this weekend.

The event will take place Saturday, Feb.9 at the Sunrise Baptist Church Family Life Center on 3220 Lakeshore Drive.

The Keynote Speaker will be Dr. Haywood Joiner, Chair of the Department of Allied Health at Louisiana State University in Alexandria.

The awards ceremony will give recognition to local African Americans who have and are making a difference in our society.
