During our
series "Legacy and Promise", we honor local African-Americans who have written
their own chapter in Black History.
Bettye
McCauley is currently the Director of Student Services and Child Welfare and
Attendance for Bossier Parish Schools.
It's a big title for a woman with a big heart.
She has
dedicated her life to helping young people find their way. In the process, she has paved the way for
other African-Americans. McCauley was
the first black teacher to work in Bossier Parish before the crossover. She went on to become the first black high
school principal in all of North Louisiana.
Watch our story to find out more about Bettye McCauley's remarkable story.
