Alleged gunman in Hope High School lockdown has been identified

Arkansas Police have identified the person of interest in the incident that led to Hope High school being put on lockdown.

Turns out that individual was from out of town to attend a workshop at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope and he was going up to the Hope High School Tech building to ask for directions.

UACCH police assisted in identifying the man, and they confirm he did indeed attend a workshop on the UAACH campus on Tuesday.

Upon further questioning, Hope Police believe the man did not have any criminal intent and no criminal act happened.

Students at the high school had reported the man had an object in his waistband, which was believed to be a gun.

But police were never able to prove whether he was carrying anything at the time he was on the Hope High School campus.

Authorities do not anticipate filing any charges in this case.
