Updated: January 30, 2013

Byrd High School parents today were alerted that at the end of school Tuesday, what appeared to be part of a gun was recovered on the school campus.

According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff's office, the gun was the bottom part of an airsoft pistol, though it had no barrel, slide or recoil. It was not found in the possession of a student, nor was it operational so posed no threat to students or staff.  Caddo deputies and school officials are investigating the matter, and hope to identify the student responsible.
