State to Begin Work on Jimmie Davis Bridge- Expect Delays

On August 7th, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will begin a several-week process of inspecting Jimmie Davis Bridge. Monday-Friday from 9:00 until 3:30 P.M., the bridge will be down to one lane only. The inspection should take from two to four weeks to complete.
On July 31st, the state will put out message boards leading to the bridge to alert motorists of the impending inspection. Police directing traffic will be stationed at the light at CenturyTel Center Drive and flagmen will direct traffic entering the bridge.
Suggested detours include the Shreveport-Barksdale Highway bridge and I-20 bridge.
