Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington terminated a deputy this afternoon following the deputy's arrest for DWI early Sunday morning.

Deputy Jesse Williams, Jr., 48, of the 1100 block of Palmetto Road in Benton, was stopped just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday by Louisiana State Police on Highway 3 near Benton on traffic violations.

When the trooper made contact with Williams, he noticed Williams appeared intoxicated with bloodshot eyes, strong odor of alcohol and having poor balance.  Williams also performed poorly on the Standard Field Sobriety Test, and the trooper found open containers of alcohol in the vehicle.

Williams was charged with DWI 1st and open container and transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility for booking.
