Report: Former La Tech head coach Derek Dooley headed to Dallas

Updated: January 26, 2013
According to reports, former Louisiana Tech Bulldog head coach Derek Dooley is set to enter the NFL ranks.

The former head man at the University of Tennessee and Louisiana Tech will reportedly join the Dallas Cowboys as a wide receivers coach.

If the reports are correct, Dooley replaces the recently fired John Garrett, who was let-go shortly after the2Cowboys season ended with a loss to the Redskins. Garrett was been hired as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers coach.

Dooley was fired from Tennessee following the 2012 season. He owned a 15-21 record that included an 0-15 mark against Top 25 teams.

The former Bulldogs was  4-19 in Southeastern Conference competition and had lost 14 of his past 15 league games.

Despite his subpar record as a head coach, his offenses continued to produce guady statistics.

Tennessee ranked No. 22 in the nation in scoring. The Volunteers passed for more than 315 yards per game, good for 15th best in the country.
