The Community Reacts to 10 year old Students Charged with Terrorizing

A typical day at Sunset Acres Elementary School doesnt usually involve finding threatening notes written by students but that was the case on Tuesday. Jack Holeman has two young daughters and says this type of behavior is something everyone needs to get used to. "It doesnt surprise me because parents are too busy with other things, and doing their own lives,” explained Jack Holeman, a concerned parent. Police think the boy and girl were upset with their teacher and wrote the notes. Specific names were used, but investigators arent saying if they were students or teachers. "Some might be naivety, copy cats, and gets a lot of attention from the parents, they are really talking about it and the kid might think its a fun thing to do and dont realize how seriously people take it,” Dr. Bruce McCormick, Family and Medical Psychologist. "I know at ten they wouldnt be doing that, they were probably writing notes to boys, but that is probably about it,” said Patti Hayes, a concerned parent. Dr. McCormick doesnt believe the juveniles were even thinking about the consequences. Police have closed the case, and turned over to the juvenile justice system. At this point the district attorneys office wont comment on the case but Holeman isnt afraid to speak out. "Maybe they should be doing community service and teach them that everything you do against them there is a response,” said Holeman. "Somewhere along the line they have missed some guidance and I think that is one of the biggest problems of our society today, is the guidance children dont get,” admitted Hayes.
