Is Bigfoot real or fake? That depends on who you ask.

Either way, a bunch of guys from Animial Planet are in the ArkLaTex looking for something that may or may not exist.

The Fouke, Arkansas community believes they're being watched.

"Her voice was quivering real bad, said Mayor Terry Purvis. "You could tell she was very, very scared, and she had seen something."

And although they can't explain it, Purvis says you just have to believe.

"With some of these stories of sightings, you can't just sit there and call them a liar. I mean these folks have seen something."

Many of the people who claimed to have seen Bigfoot say they saw it at night and along busy roads. But experts say your best chances of seeing the creature is when you're least expecting it."

Even Denny Roberts, who has lived in the area his whole life, doesn't know what to think.

"I've had several come to me and talk to me, and some people who'd have credibility about them. They seen something, I don't know what they saw myself."

He says it's become a way of life for the town.

"It's part of our history, it's good for business, it's good for our town."

Whether you know it as Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or even as a figure of someone's imagination, to some he's a beast waiting to be found.

It's not known exactly how many sightings there've been of Bigfoot in Fouke, especially because many are afraid to share their story. However Mayor Purvis hopes they'll come forward because they may have some new information that could be helpful in the hunt.
