Louisiana Tech cruises past Idaho

RUSTON, La. - Kenneth Smith and Raheem Appleby both scored over 20 points as Louisiana Tech prevailed over Idaho 72-66, Thursday night in the Thomas Assembly Center in front of a season-high crowd of 3,545.

Smith had three steals in 22 seconds in the final minute of the game as the Bulldogs pulled ahead late for the victory. A crucial three pointer by Smith gave the Bulldogs a four point lead with 57 seconds left and Tech never looked back.

LA Tech was led by Smith who led all scorers with a career high 22 points, added four steals and eight assists. Smith had five three pointers, which is also a career high. The LA Tech bench outscored Idaho 31-4 as Raheem Appleby led the bench scoring with 20 points in the victory.

Idaho was led by Stephen Madison and Kyle Barone who scored 21 and 19 points respectively. Madison and Barone each had eight and seven rebounds, respectively, to lead the Vandals.

Louisiana Tech takes the court Saturday, Jan. 19 when they take on Seattle University in a 7 p.m. contest in the Thomas Assembly Center.
