BOSSIER CITY - Airline high school running back Calvin Moody cements his commitment to Northwestern State in ink, signing with the Demons at Airline High School.
The 5'10" 210 lb running back stuck with NSU, despite a coaching change following the 2012 season. Former NSU head coach Brad Peveto originally recruited Moody, but was not re-signed following the 2012 campaign.
Newly hired head coach Jay Thomas convinced Moody to remain committed to the Demons.
"I love him (speaking about Jay Thomas) as a person, his offense. He's a great defensive guru," Moody said. "I'm a running back, but anywhere he wants me on the field, that's where I'm gonna go because I love to play football."
Airline head football coach Bo Meeks coached Moody one-season at Airline, but was around him when both were at Calvary Baptist in Shreveport.
"He can play a couple positions. He can play fullback, tailback, outside linebacker," Meeks said.
"It's just a matter of what they want and where he can help them. He's a very unselfish young man."
Moody is a 1st team all-district selection, voted permanent team captain by his teammates.
In 2011, Moody led Airline in rushing with 696 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. He also caught 16 passes for 362 yards and three receiving touchdowns.
