Gabrielle Giffords is launching a national anti-gun violence group.
Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly announced the initiative Tuesday, the second anniversary of the shooting that killed six people and left her critically injured in Tuscon, Arizona.
A new website, Americans For Responsible Solutions, promises to launch national dialogue and raise funds to counter influence of the gun lobby.
The former U.S. representative hopes to work with politicians to take gun lobbyists head-on and engage the country in a discussion about preventing gun violence.
Giffords and Kelly said they are both gun owners and strongly support the Second Amendment, but they acknowledge the need to prevent guns from ending up in the wrong hands.
