Ricky L. Brown, 36, who taught earth and physical science, died due to a heart attack early Tuesday morning, according to Bossier High School Principal David Thrash.
Brown also served as a coach with the school's football and track teams. He was the football team's offensive coordinator.
According to the school's website, Brown had been a teacher and coach at the school for the past three years. He previously served as an educator at Haynseville High School for six years.
"I took the call from his wife last night and we are all kind of in shock," said Thrash.
According to Thrash, Brown had no pre-existing conditions in which the school was aware.
"He was in perfect health," said Thrash.
Brown leaves behind a wife and three children.
Officials at the Bossier Parish Coroner's office tell NBC 6 News that an autopsy is being performed at LSU Health in Shreveport to determine Brown's official cause of death.
