I-49 construction in the Martin Luther King neighborhood is expected to begin sometime in the first quarter of 2012 with completion slated for 2016.

Susan Stafford says, "The apparent low bidder for Segment J is JB James Construction at $49.935 million. JB James was among five contractors who bid on this project. It is estimated that an official contract will be awarded within the next month or so."

Segment J is a 4.25 mile stretch from MLK Boulevard to LA 1.
